The Maldives has won four prestigious awards at the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2023.
The Maldives won four awards in the Indian Ocean Category, which are the Indian Ocean's Leading Destination, Leading Beach Destination and Leading Dive Destination. In addition, the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) was awarded the title of Indian Ocean's Leading Tourist Board in recognition of the hard work, dedication, and unique campaigns through which MMPRC has been marketing the Maldives worldwide. MMPRC stated that the awards underscore the country's standing as an unparalleled tourist destination, showcases the country's commitment to delivering unforgettable experiences to visitors from around the world, and reinforces the continued efforts in promoting and developing the tourism sector.
The Maldives has also been nominated for multiple awards in the WTA World’s Category. The awards for which the Maldives is nominated for are World's Leading Destination, Leading Beach Destination, and Leading Dive Destination, Leading Honeymoon Destination, Leading Island Destination, and Most Romantic Destination. MMPRC has also earned a nomination for World's Leading Tourist Board again this year, after having secured the distinguished title for the first time last year. Voting for the WTA World Category is open until November 17. MMPRC urged travel enthusiasts and industry professionals to cast their votes in support of the Maldives by visiting the WTA website.
