The Secretariat of the Parliament has held discussions with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
The Parliament and the ministry discussed the foreign dignitaries to be invited to the ceremony. The leaders of neighbouring nations and officials from countries that have friendly diplomatic relations with the Maldives are expected to attend the function.
The swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Muizzu is scheduled to take place at 1645hrs on November 17 at Republic Square in Male' City. However, the venue will be moved to the Parliament building if the weather worsens. Around 3,500 dignitaries will be invited to the swearing-ceremony along with 1,000 members of the public. As such, the swearing-in ceremony is expected to host the most guests compared to other such functions.
The National Tender Board has awarded the contract to Sifainge Welfare Company Private Limited (SIWEC) to prepare the swearing-in ceremony, which includes the installation of a surrounding fence at the venue. The preparations, with a total cost of USD1.5 million, include various arrangements, from catering to the overall coordination of the event.
