A thousand members of public to attend swearing-in ceremony

The Office of the President-elect has stated that a thousand members of the public will be invited to the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. The swearing-in ceremony is expected to host the most guests compared to other such functions.

At a press conference, Spokesperson Mohamed Firuzul said that President-elect Muizzu selected Republic Square as the venue to allow as many people as possible to view his swearing-in ceremony. As such, he said that 3,500 dignitaries will be invited to the function along with 1,000 members of the public.

The National Tender Board has awarded the contract to Sifainge Welfare Company Private Limited (SIWEC) to prepare the swearing-in ceremony, which includes the installation of a surrounding fence at the venue. The preparations, with a total cost of USD1.5 million, include various arrangements, from catering to the overall coordination of the event.

The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place at 1645hrs on November 17 at Republic Square. However, the venue will be moved to the Parliament building if the weather worsens.
