Chief judges appointed to High Court and Civil Court

Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has handed over the letters of appointment to Chief Judge of the Civil Court Maryam Waheed and Chief Judge of the High Court Hassan Shaheed. The letters were handed over by President of JSC Hisaan Hussain at a special ceremony.

Judge Maryam Waheed was appointed after Chief Judge of the Civil Court Ahmed Nimal passed away in September. She is the first female Chief Judge of the Civil Court.

Judge Maryam Waheed holds a Master of Sharia and a Bachelor of Laws. She was sworn in as a Judge in 2013 and has served as Magistrate of the Kaafu Atoll Gaafaru Magistrate Court and Addu City Hithadhoo Magistrate Court. She was appointed as a Judge of the Civil Court Judge in 2016.

Judge Shaheed holds a Master of Judicial Science and Sharia Policy and a Bachelor's Degree in Sharia and Law. He was sworn in as a Judge in 2014 and has served as Magistrate of the Addu City Feydhoo Magistrate Court and Noonu Atoll Holhudhoo Magistrate Court and as a Judge of the Criminal Court. He was appointed as a Judge of the High Court in 2018.
