Over 1.5 million tourist arrivals so far this year

Ministry of Tourism has revealed that more than 1.5 million tourists have visited the Maldives so far in 2023.

The statistics from the tourism ministry show that 1,505,366 tourists arrived in the Maldives as of October 28, which is an increase of 13.4% compared to the 1.3 million arrivals recorded in the same month in 2022.

The largest number of tourists visited the Maldives from Russia with 172,472 arrivals, while 163,513 tourists visited from India, 163,036 visited from China, 121,166 visited from the United Kingdom (UK), and 105,002 visited from Germany. In addition, 89,725 visited from Italy, 58,695 visited from the United States (USA), 40,500 visited from France, 32,286 visited from Spain, and 29,255 visited from Switzerland. A total of 1,274 tourist establishments are open in the Maldives, consisting of 63,734 beds, according to the tourism ministry.

The government said it aims to welcome 1.8 million tourists by the end of this year and break last year’s record of 1.6 million tourist arrivals.
