Tourism Ministry reopens bid for Nalandhoo

Ministry of Tourism has once again opened the bid for Nalandhoo in Shaviyani Atoll.

The ministry initially opened bids for the development of resorts in Medhufushi in Haa Alifu Atoll and Nalandhoo in August. The ministry opened the bids to develop 6,000 tourist beds in the northernmost atolls to match the potential tourist traffic after the development of Hanimaadhoo International Airport.

Ruh Thibi Rah, an uninhabited island near Kinbidhoo, was added to the list in September. The government plans to establish 120 tourist beds in Medhufushi, 100 beds in Ruh Thibi Rah, and 200 beds in Nalandhoo. The development of the resorts in the region is expected to increase employment opportunities and increase economic activity.

In a recent press release, the ministry invited eligible investors, local or foreign, to submit their interest in developing a resort in Nalandhoo. Interested parties are requested to attend the information session that will be held virtually via ZOOM on October 24 and submit proposals on November 6.

Interested parties are required to send an email requesting to join the information session. The application form to purchase the Bid Document can be obtained from the ministry's website. The Bid Document will be available to purchase from October 22 until November 5 from the ministry's reception or via email. For further clarification about the bid, interested parties can contact the ministry by email by November 5.
