Maldives holds telethon to help Palestinians

A special telethon by the Maldivian media has been launched to help Palestinians affected by the recent escalation of violence in Gaza.

The telethon is being conducted in collaboration with the International Aid Campaign (IAC) and various media outlets and aims to provide assistance to Palestinians. The one-day telethon is scheduled from 1030hrs to 0000hrs on October 17, preceded by pre-shows held every evening from October 14-16 between 1700-1800hrs.

Media and PR Director of IAC Azhad Ahmed expressed satisfaction with the positive response received for the efforts to aid Palestinian citizens. He highlighted that contributions are not limited to online transfers and extend to significant support from various islands in the Maldives.

Meanwhile, Chairman of IAC Ahmed Iqbal appealed for assistance, expressing that even small transactions with over 12,000 transactions below USD65, have collectively made a significant impact. He also said that transactions under USD1.2, totaling 3,000, demonstrate widespread participation.

IAC affirmed that aid is systematically delivered to Palestinian citizens through its partners in the country, with more than 25 volunteers actively working in Gaza. The assistance is coordinated and delivered in a well-planned manner to ensure support reaches those in need.
