President-elect's Office concerned over new jobs and projects

The Office of the President-elect has expressed concerns over receiving reports that state institutions are continuing to hire employees and plan new projects.

At a press conference, Director General of Transition Abdul Raheem Abdulla said that the work to transition government powers is continuing at a rapid pace and is fully supported by state-owned companies and institutions. He, however, expressed concern that political appointees at some companies are being transferred to the civil service while plans are being made to commence new projects, despite the President-elect's request not to do so. He urged the President of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to not accept such transfers and said that the new administration will be reviewing the management structures of the state institutions.

Additionally, Abdul Raheem denied claims that President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu ordered the suspension of any ongoing project. He explained that the President-elect requested that the government only refrain from commencing new projects, as the policies of the incumbent administration and the new administration would be different. He added that the President-elect has the vision to fulfill his pledges while simultaneously completing the projects that have been ongoing for the past five years.
