The government has nominated Khadheeja Najeeha, as the new Ambassador of the Maldives to Pakistan.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had sent a letter to the Parliament requesting the appointment of Najeeha as ambassador to Pakistan. As such, the request has been forwarded to the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations to be evaluated.
The Office of the President-elect has expressed concern over the appointment of ambassadors to countries during the government transition. As such, the government has been urged to refrain from appointing ambassadors, recruit employees or carry out new projects.
The government has also submitted a proposal to seek the approval for the appointment of new ambassadors to Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
