Discussions held on arrangements for President-elect's swearing in ceremony

The Office of the President-elect has held discussions with the Secretariat of the Parliament regarding the arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony.

The meeting was led by the Secretary General of the Parliament Fathimath Niusha with Director General of Transition Abdul Raheem Abdulla present as a representative of the President-elect's Office. The meeting mainly focused on discussions regarding the venue, the arrangement, and the invitation of guests for the ceremony. This is the first official meeting of between the Office of the President-elect and the Parliament Secretariat.

The Office of the President-elect earlier stated that discussions are in in progress for the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to be held on November 17 at Republic Square in Male' City. It would allow the public to view the ceremony. However, adverse weather conditions might necessitate changes.

The official commencement date of the presidential term was November 11 from 1968 to 2013. However, in 2013 the presidential term began on November 17 after the Supreme Court annulled the first round of the presidential election that year. The first round of that year’s election was held on November 11, the second round was held on November 16 and the President was sworn in on November 17.
