Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions has approved Ali Nashath to serve another term at the Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM). The committee reviewed and approved Nashath with eight votes in favour.
Ali Nashath's initial term expired on July 25, 2022. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih sent a letter to the Parliament on May 29 seeking approval to appoint him for another term. The matter was referred to the committee for consideration.
ECM currently comprises four members. They are the President of ECM Fuad Thaufeeq, the Vice President of ECM Ismail Habeeb Abdul Raheem, and members Dr. Mohamed Zahir and Mohamed Asif.
