President condemns Israel's violence against Palestinians

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has condemned Israel's disproportionate use of force against Palestinians. He made the remark following the escalation of violence in Israel and Gaza.

In his statement on Twitter, President Solih said that the Maldives remain in solidarity with the Palestinian people and their right to dignity and self-determination. He condemned Israel’s disproportionate use of force on defenseless Palestinian communities and renewed his administration's call for a two-state solution that ensures peace for all.

The government of the Maldives has issued a separate statement expressing its grave concern regarding the ongoing escalation of violence in the Gaza Strip. In the statement, the Maldives stated that it stands in solidarity with the government and the people of Palestine, and urged the full implementation of the United Nations Security Council resolutions that have declared null and void the occupation of Palestine, and the annexation of the Holy City of Jerusalem. The Maldives reiterated its position that a lasting peace in the Middle East can only be achieved through a two-state solution based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.
