The Secretariat of the Parliament has been informed that Vice President-elect Hussain Mohamed Latheef has joined the People's National Congress (PNC).
Parliamentarian Latheef was a member of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) until his appointment as the running mate of PNC presidential candidate Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. The PNC regulations dictate that only a member can contest the presidential election on behalf of the party.
Speaker Mohamed Nasheed said that the Parliament has received the relevant documents pertaining to Parliamentarian Latheef joining PNC. The party now consists of four representatives in Parliament.
