President-elect reiterated to remove foreign military personnel

President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reiterated to remove all foreign military personnel from the Maldives.

At a post-election event, President-elect Muizzu said that his administration would prioritise national interests and revealed his intention to remove all foreign military personnel from the country. He said that his foreign policy is pro-Maldives and that he will maintain cordial relations with any nation that respects the sovereignty of the Maldives.

Additionally, President-elect Muizzu said that the citizens have expressed their clear stance during the presidential election, indicating their preference for the removal of foreign military personnel from the Maldives. He also said that foreign military forces should honour the sovereign decisions of host nations regarding their presence. He further expressed readiness to engage in meetings with foreign dignitaries during the transition period.
