President announces formation of special transitional committee

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced the formation of a special transitional committee to ensure a seamless transfer of government. He made the announcement during a meeting with President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, extending congratulations for his victory in the presidential election.

During the meeting, President Solih affirmed his respect for the people's decision and assured President-elect Muizzu that his administration is committed to facilitating a smooth and peaceful transition of government to the incoming administration in accordance with the Presidential Transition Act. He also said that the special committee, tasked with ensuring the transition of power, would be led by the Secretary of Corporate Services at the President's Office Hussain Amir. He noted that Chief of Staff of the President's Office Ali Zahir will supervise the committee's operations and a team of technical staff from the President's Office will assist the President-elect's team throughout the process.

In his remarks, President-elect Muizzu expressed gratitude to President Solih for acknowledging the election results and personally congratulating him on his win. He commended the orderly electoral process and assured his commitment, along with his team, to ensuring a peaceful and orderly transition of power.
