Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) has encouraged voters to exercise their right to shape the future.
Speaking to PSM News, President of HRCM Mariyam Muna highlighted issues in ensuring the secrecy of the vote at polling stations during the first round of the presidential election. She said that that issue was concerning the voting booths, which was exposed to officials at the polling stations. She added that the Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM) has addressed the issue by making changes to the design of the voting booths.
Additionally, Muna said that HRCM will be observing 109 ballot boxes and 78 boxes in the atolls during the election. The commission will publish a report on its observations after the election.
