Dr. Muizzu pledges ensure rights of relocated Giraavaru community

Presidential Candidate People's National Congress (PNC), Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, has pledged to end the exclusion and isolation experienced by the relocated Giraavaru community now residing in the city. He announced this commitment during a gathering with the Giraavaru residents in the city.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Muizzu pledged his dedication to ensuring equal rights and opportunities for all citizens of the Maldives. He emphasised his unwavering stance against any form of discrimination in the provision of services, irrespective of the individual's origin, location, or political affiliation. Driven by a vision of economic revitalisation, he revealed his plans to generate income and employment prospects as a means to achieve this goal.

The history of the Giraavaru community traces back to 1960 when they were initially relocated from Kaafu Atoll to Hulhule. Over the years, they were moved to the city.

Dr. Muizzu further outlined his plans for reclaiming Giraavaru Lagoon and Fushidhiggaru Lagoon in tandem with providing housing solutions for the residents of Male' and all individuals residing within the capital. He assured that these proposals were thoroughly researched and validated, underscoring his commitment to well-informed initiatives for the betterment of the community.
