The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has appointed Judge Farhad Rasheed as the Acting Chief Judge of the Civil Court.
JSC made the decision following the demise of Chief Judge of the Civil Court Ahmed Nimal Junaid at the age of 36. He succumbed to chest pain and vomiting while undergoing emergency medical treatment.
Junaid, who held a Bachelor of Laws degree in Sharia, assumed the role of a Civil Court Judge in March 2022. He then temporarily took over the responsibilities of Chief Justice of the Civil Court on August 22, 2022, following the retirement of Chief Justice Abdulla Ali. He was officially appointed as the Chief Justice of the Civil Court on May 9, 2023.
