Over 3,600 applications for observers, monitors, representatives

The Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM) has stated that 3,689 individuals have submitted applications to become party representatives, observers, and monitors for the second round of the presidential election.

ECM opened the opportunity to submit applications from September 14-17 and has received applications from 1,067 individuals for observer positions, 2,439 for monitor roles, and 183 for party representative positions. Out of these, the commission will approve the legally permitted 109 party representatives for the election.

The electoral body stated that it will complete the process of approving and giving out passes for representatives, observers, and monitors by September 20. Those who have received permission from ECM in the first round of the election and wish to participate in the second round will be able to use their existing passes. The commission received 8,152 applications for representatives, observers, and monitors for the first round of the election.
