Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the presidential candidate of the People's National Congress (PNC), has pledged to double the salary of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) and Maldives Police Service (MPS). He made the pledge speaking at a campaign rally held in Artificial Beach.
At the gathering, Dr. Muizzu highlighted the importance of a nation's independence and stability expressing the pride that MNDF and MPS bring to the country. He revealed his pledge to increase their salaries by twofold in his government if elected. He also said the campaign announcement marked the first time he publicly discussed the salary increase, highlighting the major role played by MNDF and MPS in serving the nation.
Additionally, Muizzu outlined plans to simplify the rental process for the flats designated for MNDF and MPS officers and proposed a one-year deferment of rent payments. He pledged to reduce the rent for Hiya flats to USD363, including maintenance fees.
Furthermore, he also revealed his intent to include Maldives Nationalism as a separate subject in schools aiming to cultivate a deeper sense of national pride among the youth.
