President addresses concerns over pay for health and social workers

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has addressed the concerns of health and social workers who migrated to the state pay framework and those in the social service metrics. As such, President Solih has made positive changes after holding discussions with the relevant authorities regarding the complaints submitted to the President's Office.

The Spokesperson at the President's Office Miuvaan Mohamed said that President Solih has acknowledged the difficulties faced by workers after migrating to the state pay framework. He said that the president has made the necessary changes to address their concerns after holding discussions with those working in the relevant fields.

The changes include providing an attendance allowance to workers in the social service metrics for coming into work on government holidays. Workers who are required to come to work on government holidays in accordance with the duty table will also receive an attendance allowance.

President Solih made the decision after holding discussions with the Ministry of Finance. The government expects that the changes will resolve the difficulties faced by workers.

The administration implemented a new salary structure for the health sector in May resulting in a salary increase for 3,710 workers. The administration has also raised the salaries of teachers.
