The Maldives Airports Company (MACL) has decided to resume paying 50% of employee salary in US dollars.
MACL stated that 50% of salary was paid in dollars before the COVID-19 pandemic. However, with the reduction in dollar revenue due to the pandemic, MACL began paying the full salary in Maldivian Rufiyaa. As such, the company has decided to pay 50% of salary in dollars again from September onwards.
MACL is the largest government-owned company in the Maldives. It employs more than 3,500 individuals. The company has also paid USD1,621 as bonus to its employees in the last two years.
