ACC receives 29 cases regarding presidential election

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has received 29 cases regarding the presidential election.

ACC stated that 29 cases have been filed regarding the first round of the election and that the cases involve bribery and instrumentalisation of state resources. The commission has begun investigating seven cases, including a case regarding the process of allocating land plots in Hulhumale' and the process of conducting the lucky draw. The commission stated that it would take appropriate action after obtaining more information during the course of the investigations and confirming the validity of the allegations.

ACC launched a dedicated online portal for reporting cases of bribery prior to the presidential election. The commission has conveyed that corruption-related cases have been submitted through this portal as well as alternative methods. The portal also serves as an educational resource, offering insights into the nature of electoral bribery and precautions to take against it. The portal has been designed to safeguard user information, while updates on cases will be communicated to users in a discreet and anonymous manner.
