Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the candidate of the People's National Congress (PNC), has invited political leaders to discuss forming a coalition for the second round of the presidential election.
At an event held to celebrate his lead in the first round of the election, Dr. Muizzu said that the results show the need to promote national independence and sovereignty. He called on the people who had differing opinions in the election to come together for the good of the country.
Additionally, Dr. Muizzu said that he is willing to work with any political leader who prioritises the good of the country. As such, he called on political parties and leaders who contested the election to form a coalition with the main opposition, consisting of PNC and the Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM), for the second round.
Furthermore, Dr. Muizzu highlighted the crucial points in his manifesto and vowed to fulfill each and every pledge. He said that the manifesto was not made to gain votes and that he and his team has a comprehensive plan to fulfill his pledges. He also said that he will not take away the flats and land plots promised by the current administration. He added that economic growth can be achieved with his vision and that he will prioritise national independence and sovereignty during his administration.
