The main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has stated that their estimation of the results of the presidential election was mistaken and they will make corrections for the second round.
In a tweet, the Chairperson of MDP Fayyaz Ismail said that the party will be coming out with a strong campaign to win the second round of the presidential election. He also emphasised their commitment to preventing a return to injustice in the country.
Chairperson Fayyaz previously predicted that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih would receive at least 56% of the votes. However, the preliminary results show that he received 38% while opposition candidate Dr. Mohamed Muizzu received 46%.
