The Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM) has stated that 51 complaints were submitted regarding the presidential election.
Vice President of ECM Ismail Habeeb said that 26 complaints were submitted to the national complaints bureau and 25 complaints were submitted to city and atoll complaints bureaus. They include three complaints regarding observers, 10 complaints regarding the rights of the voters, 14 complaints regarding vote secrecy, two complaints regarding bribery, and two other complaints. ECM has resolved the immediate issues and is investigating the rest of the complaints.
The presidential election went smoothly, except for minor issues that led to temporary halts in the voting process at some polling stations. Some issues were also reported during the ballot-counting phase.
