The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced that public ferry services in the atolls will be halted on September 9.
MTCC stated that the decision was made in light of the presidential election scheduled for that day. As such, ferry services will be temporarily halted in the atolls. However, MTCC has assured that ferry services in Thaa Atoll, Laamu Atoll, and Meemu Atoll, as well as Fuvahmulah City and Addu City, will continue without interruption through the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) high-speed ferry services. The halting of ferry services will be in effect only on the day of the presidential election, with normal operations set to resume from September 10.
MTCC has expressed its apologies to customers for any inconvenience caused by the temporary halt in public ferry services in the atolls. The company has encouraged customers to contact its hotline at 1650 for further information or assistance.
