Prices of WAMCO service will be reduced: Dr. Muizzu

Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the presidential candidate of the People's National Congress (PNC), has made a commitment to ensure secure housing for all residents in the Greater Male' area and facilitate affordable housing construction. He made these remarks during a campaign event held in Henveiru.

During his speech at the event, Dr. Muizzu outlined his plans to address the pressing housing and social issues in the city under his administration. He reiterated that his government would not seize land from those who possess land acquisition certificates. Instead, people would have the opportunity to build homes on their land at reasonable prices, he added.

Furthermore, Dr. Muizzu acknowledged that there are still many individuals in the city without access to land. To rectify this, he proposed reclaiming the remaining areas of Gulhifalhu, Fushidhiggaru Lagoon, and Giraavaru Lagoon. This ambitious plan aims to provide housing for all residents of the Male' area and those living within Male'. Dr. Muizzu expressed confidence in executing this plan within the first year of his government.

Dr. Muizzu also addressed the city's parking problem during the gathering. He pledged to lower the fees charged by both the public and businesses for waste disposal services and transform Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) into a profitable entity.

Additionally, Dr. Muizzu announced that the manifesto would encompass critical measures to address housing challenges in the northern, central, and southern regions of the country.
