Ilyas pledges to raise farmers' prices

Ilyas Labeeb, the presidential candidate of The Democrats, has pledged to implementing a system aimed at boosting the prices of agricultural products for farmers.

At a campaign event at Thoddoo, Alifu Alifu Atoll, Ilyas said that farmers utilise the islands in the Maldives, which have the potential to increase their agricultural output, but they face significant challenges in doing so. He pointed out that currently, the cost of producing agricultural products exceeds the revenue generated from selling them. In response to these issues, he pledged to implement a system aimed at enhancing the value of produce from farmers.

Furthermore, Ilyas made a commitment to establish a dedicated facility for farmers in Thoddoo. He stated his intention to offer financial support to the landowners of the island for development purposes. He also pledged to conduct a thorough review of utility costs, including electricity and water bills.
