The Maldives and São Tomé and Príncipe have signed an agreement on Mutual Exemption of Visa Requirements. Within the framework of the agreement, Maldivians with all types of passports will be able to travel to São Tomé and Príncipe without a visa and stay for up to 90 days.
The agreement was signed Ambassador of the Maldives to China Aishath Azeema and Ambassador of São Tomé and Príncipe to China Isabel Maysa Jesus da Graca Domingos at a signing ceremony held at the Embassy of Maldives in Beijing.
During the discussions following the signing ceremony, Ambassador Azeema thanked the Government of São Tomé and Príncipe for its commitment towards strengthening the existing bilateral relations between the two countries and conveyed hope that the signing of this agreement will increase the avenues for engagement and people to people contact between both countries. Ambassador Domingos also expressed keen interest in strengthening the bilateral ties with the Maldives and assured commitment to work with the Maldives on areas of mutual interest.
