Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the presidential candidate of the People's National Congress (PNC), has pledged to designate the last 10 days of Ramadan as a public holiday.
At a campaign event in Eydhafushi, Baa Atoll, Muizzu said that as Muslims all Maldivians should base their behaviour on the tenets of Islam and that the people would be pleased if the government policies facilitated worship. As such, he pledged to designate the last 10 days of Ramadan as public holidays.
Additionally, Muizzu detailed his development plan for Eydhafushi, which includes the development of a sports complex, a campus of the Maldives National University (MNU), and a convention centre. He also pledged to reclaim land in Hithadhoo as well as develop the school and upgrade the health centre. He further vowed to solve the problem of erosion in Goidhoo as well as develop the island's harbour and school, upgrade the health centre, and build a football ground.
