The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has decided to operate the Male'-Hulhumale' bus for 24 hours a day.
Speaking to PSM News, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Adam Azim said that the decision was made to make the service available to employees working the night shift. He said that MTCC has received many requests for the bus service to continue after midnight, especially from employees working at various companies such as the Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO).
As such, Azim said that buses will now stop every hour from 0030hrs to 0530hrs. He expressed confidence that workers would no longer have to pay expensive taxi fares to travel after midnight. He added that MTCC is willing to change the early morning bus schedule in accordance with the wishes of passengers.
Passengers pay less than USD1 to travel between Male' City and Hulhumale'. MTCC previously operated the bus service from 0530hrs to 0030hrs.
