Nazim pledges to reduce Hiya rent and install stretcher lifts

Mohamed Nazim, the presidential candidate of the Maldives National Party (MNP), has pledged to reduce the rent of Hiya flats to USD260 and install stretcher lifts in the buildings.

At a campaign event in Hulhumale' Phase II, Nazim said that surveys have found that the lowest feasible reduction in the rent of Hiya flats is USD260, and that completely waiving the rent payments is not practical. Currently, the tenants of the Hiya flats pay USD519 as rent.

Additionally, Nazim addressed the concerns raised by tenants about elevator delays and pledged to install improved elevators. He also vowed to install stretcher lifts in each building, highlighting that it is common for other countries to have elevators with sufficient capacity to carry patients in residential buildings.

Furthermore, Nazim detailed his development plans for Hulhumale' Phase II, which include building a structural parking system and a convention centre. He also pledged to build a theme park in the area and reiterated his initiative to provide the first 100 units of electricity and 3,000 litres of water from household bills free of charge.
