Qasim Ibrahim, the presidential candidate from the Jumhooree Party (JP), has pledged to establish a mosque near the harbour of every island across the country.
Speaking at a campaign event in Hangnaameedhoo, Alifu Dhaalu Atoll, Qasim highlighted that the Maldives is an Islamic nation, emphasising the convenience for tourists to locate mosques when located to harbors. He affirmed his intent to establish mosques closest to the harbors on all islands nationwide under his government. He also mentioned the appointment of two individuals to conduct prayer in these mosques.
Additionally, Qasim has outlined his plans for a transformative overhaul of the education sector during his government. He pledged to equip every classroom in the country's schools with 75-inch televisions and smart boards. He also committed to installing air conditioners in all classrooms and establishing advanced computer labs in every school. Qasim assured the provision of contemporary amenities within these labs.
