Campaign banners and flags banned from election headquarters

Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM) has requested parties to refrain from placing campaign banners and flags near the election headquarters and the ECM main office.

ECM has requested the public not to display campaign flags, banners and posters of any party or candidate in front of the main election headquarters, the Dharubaaruge convention centre, the ECM main office, and adjacent streets. They have also been asked to remove the existing items as soon as possible.

Additionally, ECM urged candidates and parties to obtain permission from local councils or the owner of the building before distributing, posting or affixing campaign materials in public places and private buildings.
