President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has pledged to upgrade the health centre in Dhuvaafaru, Raa Atoll, to a hospital in his second term in office.
At a campaign event held in Dhuvaafaru, President Solih detailed his development plans for Dhuvaafaru if elected for a second term, which include building flats and row houses on the reclaimed area and expanding healthcare services on the island by upgrading the health centre to a hospital. He also said he would establish a Raajje Transport Link (RTL) bus service to increase the convenience for school students and parents.
Additionally, President Solih said that he would establish fish processing and storage facilities for the large number of fishermen in Dhuvaafaru. He also pledged to develop the roads on the island.
Furthermore, President Solih vowed to hold discussions with the relevant authorities on developing an airport in accordance with the residents of Dhuvaafaru. Raa Atoll currently consists of Ifuru Airport while the development of Alifushi Airport is ongoing and the government has announced plans to develop an airport in Beriyanfaru.
