MDP proposes Gov't employees to work from home on last days of Ramadan

The main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has included policies in its manifesto to allow employees to work from home on the last 10 days of Ramadan. The policies under the Good Governance section of the MDP manifesto were unveiled by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih during a campaign event in Dharavandhoo, Baa Atoll

The section includes measures to strengthen administration and accountability and make the state transparent and free from corruption as well as ensure media freedom. It also proposes measures to make further improvements to the salary structure of state employees as part of the government's pay harmonisation efforts.

The manifesto includes policies to expand the range of services available through the oneGov platform to strengthen the administration of the state. Other policies propose to amend the Constitution to change the composition of the Parliament and change the law that allows the number of parliamentarians to increase every five years. Other priorities include transforming the civil service into an efficient system that will enable the policies of the executive branch to be implemented quickly. It also includes necessary legislative amendments to change the civil service model and transform its regulatory system of the civil service.

Additionally, the manifesto proposes to allow state employees to work from home during the last 10 days of Ramadan. The policy will allow employees to focus on religious duties. Other policies include legal amendments to eliminate differences in the governance of state institutions and establish a modern structure to run state institutions with operational independence. An amendment has also been proposed for the Employment Act to fully ensure the rights of employees and employers in a flexible manner by incorporating developments in governance mechanisms.
