Reclamation to begin for Thulhaadhoo Airport development

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed that land reclamation will begin next week for the development of an airport in Thulhaadhoo, Baa Atoll.

At a campaign event, President Solih noted that the government has conducted numerous projects in Thulhaadhoo, including the development of 100 housing projects. He said that the development of a hospital on the island is ongoing and pledged to develop 100 more housing units in his second term. He highlighted the importance of developing an airport in Thulhaadhoo and said that a project will commence soon to reclaim 45 hectares.

Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure contracted Capital Marine and Civil Construction Company Private Limited to complete the reclamation project. The development of the airport is part of President Solih's pledge to establish airports within 30 minutes of every inhabited island.

Furthermore, President Solih highlighted his development plans for Thulhaadhoo in his second term, which include reclaiming land to develop an industrial zone. He also pledged to develop the main roads, a picnic island, indoor sports complex, and designate a special fish processing vessel for the island.
