President pledges to develop resort near Fulhadhoo

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has pledged to develop a resort on the lagoon near Goidhoo, Fulhadhoo, and Fehendhoo in Baa Atoll during his second term. The three islands collectively have a small population and share the same lagoon.

At a campaign event in Fulhadhoo, President Solih said that previous governments did not have any intention of developing islands with small communities such as Fuhladhoo but that he plans to develop the island if elected for a second term. He also pledged to develop a resort on the lagoon to capitalise on its rich natural beauty, adding that he will open up the region to the private sector for further tourism development initiatives.

Additionally, President Solih pledged to build a floating jetty, a community centre, an indoor volleyball court, laboratory facilities at the health centre, an accommodation block for employees and a waste management centre in Fulhadhoo. He said that these projects will provide opportunities for further development on the island and allow residents to prosper.
