The main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has stated that all presidential candidates should have equal opportunity to campaign in the atolls.
At a press conference, Mariya Ahmed Didi, the spokesperson for the MDP candidate, expressed concern over individuals obstructing campaign events of candidates based on their party or their political alignment. She made the remark regarding the recent incidents in Guraidhoo, Kaafu Atoll, and Hulhumale' Phase II. She said that MDP does not support the obstruction of campaign events and that the main ruling party and the administration respect the rights of candidates.
Additionally, Mariya criticised the housing policies of the previous government and said that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's policies were formulated for the benefit of the people. She added that many of the pledges made by the main opposition candidate Dr. Mohamed Muizzu have already been fulfilled or are in the process of being fulfilled by the current administration.
