Muizzu pledges to establish dollar ATMs in atolls

Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the presidential candidate of People's National Congress (PNC), has pledged to establish US dollar ATM services in the atolls.

Speaking at a campaign event for Guraidhoo constituency, Muizzu said he would open the first US dollar ATM outside of Male' in Maafushi as part of his pledge to expand the services to atolls with thriving local tourism industries. He highlighted that Maafushi has a high level of US dollar transactions.

Additionally, Muizzu said he would ensure that 100% of rent from businesses leasing land plots under the jurisdiction of local councils belong to the councils. He noted that currently, revenue from council land plots are being lost through the centralised government system.

Furthermore, Muizzu pledged to commence reclamation projects in Guraidhoo, Maafushi, and Gulhi, in a way that is most beneficial to the people. He claimed that the current administration reclaimed land in Guraidhoo constituency without holding any discussions with the residents.
