RTL ferry service begins familiarisation trips in Addu, Fuvahmulah

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced that it has commenced familiarisation trips for the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) high-speed ferry service in Addu City and Fuvahmulah City.

The RTL ferry service is divided into six zones. MTCC has begun services in Addu and Fuvahmulah located at Zone 6. These two new routes will also act as a highway link to connect Zone 6 with Zone 5 allowing citizens to conveniently travel within four atolls for various purposes.

MTCC stated that familiarisation trips will be conducted free of cost among the two new routes for one week duration. The purpose of the trial period is to facilitate customer awareness and familiarity. Customers will be able to travel upon purchasing tickets with the cessation of the trial period from August 25 onwards.

MTCC stated RTL ferry services will be provided seven days a week. Ferry schedule will be accessible on RTL travel app and RTL website. In addition, children under the age of three and persons with disabilities will be able to travel free of charge.

The National Public Ferry Network provided via RTL is a large-scale project that introduces efficient, affordable, and convenient passenger and cargo ferry services to all administrative islands of the country. The government aims to connect all islands using the ferry network by the end of 2023.
