Housing Development Corporation Limited (HDC) has begun preparations to reclaim the lagoon area in Hulhumale' Phase II.
HDC awarded the reclamation project to the Netherlands-based Royal Boskalis Westminster, which is already engaged in reclamation projects in the country. HDC has announced that it plans to clear the lagoon area of docked and sunken ships.
HDC warned that it will take action on any vessel owner that does not clear the area within 10 days, and urged vessels using the lagoon to be careful so as to not interfere with the reclamation project.
