Mohamed Nazim, the presidential candidate of the Maldives National Party (MNP), has pledged to reduce the rent of government-built flats in the atolls to USD130.
At a campaign event in Mulah, Meemu Atoll, Nazim noted that residents in the atolls receive a salary of USD519-649 and that it is a financial burden for them to have to pay USD324 as rent for government housing. As such, he pledged to reduce the rent of all government-built flats in the atolls to USD130.
Additionally, Nazim expressed concern over the current state of education and said that his administration would provide free education to students from primary to Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) level. He also said that policies would be implemented to identify the unique skills of every student and foster their growth within the school environment.
