Independent presidential candidate Hassan Zameel has stated that coalition-led governments are a hindrance to establishing justice for incidents such as murders and other tragic events. He made the remark in a special programme aired by Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu for presidential candidates.
Speaking on the programme, Zameel said he came out to run in the election as an independent candidate to establish justice in society and increase the prosperity of the people. He noted that coalition-led governments have been unable to solve the problems in the country because of the large role played by coalition partners. As such, he said that many issues have been sidelined due to the influence of the coalition partners.
Additionally, Zameel highlighted the importance of establishing justice and expressed concern over the challenges in contacting state institutions and holding them accountable. He pledged to make institutions more efficient and fast-track the provision of government services under his administration. He added that government offices would be held accountable so that they would have to disclose the reasons for any delays and provide the latest updates to the public.
