No plans for developing sparsely populated islands: Zameel

Independent presidential candidate Hassan Zameel has stated that he has no plans for developing sparsely populated islands under his administration.

Speaking on a special PSM programme, Zameel highlighted the significant financial burden associated with establishing essential services uniformly across all inhabited islands. As such, he said that his administration would refrain from investing in the development of islands with populations of fewer than 1,000 residents.

Furthermore, Zameel said that land plots in Male' should also be given to residents from the atolls and that his administration would facilitate the allocation of land plots to island residents residing in Male'.
