Leader of Jumhooree Party (JP) Qasim Ibrahim has forgiven the loans of students who are currently pursuing their education or have completed their studies under his sponsorship. He made the announcement at a campaign event to introduce his party's manifesto for the presidential election.
At the campaign event, JP Leader Qasim said that the manifesto encompasses socio-economic and religious issues and outlines the major developments that would be commenced during his presidency. He also said that he has sent over 8,000 students abroad under his sponsorship, which includes students who received grants and scholarships. He said that he has forgiven their loans, which total millions of dollars.
Additionally, Qasim noted that the current administration has provided the opportunity for students to pursue an education through the free degree programme. He said that he would allow students to pursue free master's degrees, if elected President. He also affirmed his commitment to launching initiatives that will rekindle religious fervor. These include sponsoring the pilgrimage journey to Hajj for 100 individuals aged 65 and above each year and increasing the salaries of imams by 25%.
Furthermore, Qasim highlighted the crucial work his administration would commence for the development of the judiciary. These include a 75% increase in the salaries of court judges and a 35% increase in the salaries of judicial employees. He also said that he would build infrastructure for the development of the judiciary in his first 100 days in office. In addition, he pledged to establish a process by which the state can provide accommodation and cover food expenses for those going abroad for medical treatment.
