The main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has inaugurated the first policy of its manifesto called Ufaaveri Dhiriulhun.
The policy was inaugurated by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the presidential candidate of MDP, in Kudahuvadhoo, Dhaalu Atoll. The MDP manifesto is divided into five policies. Among them, President Solih launched the Ufaaveri Dhiriulhun policy, which was formulated with the aim of building a healthy, productive, and prosperous society. The policy is divided into three categories, which are for building a healthy and strong society, a productive and prosperous generation, and a responsible and compassionate citizenry.
Notable aspects of the policy include the establishment of regional warehouses, provision of medicines and supplies, and emergency treatment by road, sea, and air, as well as the introduction of motorcycle paramedics and the expansion of insurance available for infertility cases.
Additionally, the policy includes the establishment of a special bank to finance housing, with an interest rate of not more than 6% and 10% of the equity. It further includes reducing the cost of traveling for Hajj and providing child-friendly teaching of Islamic subjects in English, through Islamic investment products.
Furthermore, the policy focuses on introducing student visas to encourage foreign students to come to the Maldives, discontinuation of the bond law, reviewing the loan assistance process, and forgiving loan repayments within specified criteria. The policy also includes the construction of regional sports centres in different parts of the country and the establishment of a system to provide training abroad. The details of the policy have been published on the MDP website.
