JSC to dismiss case against Justice Mahaz

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has made a decision to dismiss the case filed against Supreme Court Justice Mahaz Ali Zahir. The case revolved around allegations of Justice Mahaz accepting a dinner from an individual with connections to a party involved in a case he was presiding over in November 2021. The case against Justice Mahaz was filed in October 2022.

According to the JSC, the allegations could not be substantiated based on the findings of their investigation and the statement provided by Justice Mahaz. As a result, the commission chose not to pursue further investigation during its last meeting.

Justice Mahaz responded to the incident by stating that he personally paid for the dinner. In support of his claim, he has provided evidence in the form of bills and receipts.
