The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has announced plans to install arrow traffic lights in other areas of the Sinamale' Bridge to tackle traffic congestion in the Greater Male' Region.
According to Sub-Inspector of Police Ilyas Abdulla, who heads the Police Road Engineering Unit, the newly-installed traffic lights at the Sinamale’ Bridge are currently under monitoring. Based on the results of this monitoring, additional traffic lights will be installed between the bridge and the highway to further address traffic congestion.
MPS has reported that the implementation of arrow traffic lights has already had a positive impact on traffic congestion management in the region, contributing to enhanced driver safety. To ensure safe road usage, a specific time limit of 80 seconds for stopping and driving has been set, coupled with a three-second timeout.
By expanding the use of arrow traffic lights in key areas, MPS aims to improve traffic flow and enhance overall road safety in the Greater Male' Region.
